We're still waiting for more details on Google's new wearable computing headset, Google Glass. But according to the Financial TImes (via The Verge), the initial run of Glass will take place at a manufacturing plant in Santa Clara, California. Obviously, few major electronics are still made right here in the U.S., so the news is definitely a big deal.
But while it seems the first mass production of Glass may take place at a California Foxconn plant, there's no indication as to whether or not Google will manufacture every headset in America. Clearly, there's a chance the decision has more to do with proximity to Google HQ, and after a small factory start-up of the new device, major production could still land overseas.
