Google's One Today App Makes Donating to Charities Fun and Easy Ebq3B8s

Google has just released an app that lets people learn about different non profits every day and donate to the projects that inspire them. The app, called One Today, expands on Google's range of free services for nonprofits around the world.

In addition to being able to process charitable donations of 1 dollar per day (and no more than that), the app also has a social function, allowing you to match the donations of your friends and share your favorite causes quickly and easily through Google+.

Every day, users are informed about a different nonprofit and given the option to donate a dollar through Google if they would like to do so. There are no catches here; Google is being transparent about the fact that the entirety of your donation will go to the charity of your choice, minus a 1.9% credit card fee.

The organizations are also very transparent about where your dollars are going. For example, $2 = 1 hour of security for a wild rhino being hunted by poachers via the non-profit Lewa Wildlife Conservancy. Just $1 buys 17 days of school funded for a student in Laos via Pencils of Promise. The more you donate, the more the app learns which non-profits to recommend to you.

In the U.S., charitable donations are fully tax-deductible; you can show your Google Wallet confirmation email as your donation receipt. Unfortunately, the app is only available to folks in the U.S. right now; we hope they expand the program to more countries soon.
